World Beverages Part 12: Pims in the Park

What: Pims Original Cocktail

Where: Hyde Park, London, England

Who: Me. Solo.

The Story:

As I found myself walking through the winding streets of Borough Market, ogling the tables that overflowed with fresh, local delicacies, I knew I needed to picnic. Choosing between the dozens of types of bread, stuffed olives and cheeses was deliciously agonizing. With my choices, a pint of local strawberries, a couple ice cold Pims cocktails and the 25 degree weather, I could hear Hyde Park calling my name.

Sitting in the sunshine, sipping Pims, and reading about Charles Dickens’ London in Great Expectations made for a near perfect afternoon. All that was missing? Someone with whom to share it. And while I still think of him everyday, I believe that I must know my authentic self before I can share my life with another. So if this is solo travel, I am ready for the adventure. I may be lonely from time to time, but I will also be surrounded by beauty, novelty, history and serendipity.

I’ve got my ticket for the long way ’round. The one with the prettiest of views. It’s got mountains, it’s got rivers, it’s got sights to give you shivers, but it sure would be prettier with you. – Anna Kendricks
